Swedish talent signed, no exits without replacements. Transfer Update 16/01/2022

Arrivals

We have finally done it - our first signing of this winter transfer window. 16-year-old Swedish talent Jardell Kanga has agreed to a 5 year contract with the Werkself in a deal worth around €500 thousand according to Scandinavian press. The young star, who made his professional debut for then 3rd division Brommapojkarna at just 15, had taken part in trial training sessions at Leverkusen in November. With Iker Bravo, he could form a formidable partnership in our U19s, and hopefully, in the first team as well.

Vitinho of Sao Paolo B, not to be confused with Braga's Vitinha, has been watched by Leverkusen since the middle of 2021 according to @SPFCInfoss on Twitter. They say we are 'keeping an eye on his contract situation' - Sao Paolo want to extend with the winger whose contract expires in June. No offers have yet been made for the 20-year-old Brazilian as of present.

Departures

Rudi Voller has made clear the conditions that must be met in order for Nadiem Amiri to be allowed his move to Genoa. According to Kicker, although a change is extremely close, Amiri may still be denied a change of scenery unless a replacement is found, due to the risks of shrinking the squad during the pandemic. The same of course applies to Lucas Alario who saw negotiations between Palmeiras and Leverkusen break down for similar reasons. One player who should be exempt from this is Panos Retsos who, as the 5th centre back, is allowed to leave the club at the end of the month, so long as Kossounou and Tapsoba safely return from AFCON without corona or injury.
