Shock Amiri transfer, Alario in agreement with Palmeiras? Transfer Update 13/01/2022

Arrivals

Fotospor in Turkey claim that if Nadiem Amiri leaves, Bayer Leverkusen could try to sign Brazilian Alex Teixeira from Besiktas. Whilst at Shakhtar, he was one of Europes most sought after players, at one point being heavily linked with a move to Liverpool before settling to go to China, seemingly waving goodbye to any chance of playing in one of Europe's top leagues. Given his age (32) it would be very out of the ordinary for a club like Leverkusen but he still has the ability to play up front, in midfield or on the wing - perhaps an unlikely, yet ideal replacement for both Amiri and Alario - especially if they are only to be given on loan.

Departures

Late last night, there was some extremely unexpected news - news that Nadiem Amiri was due to move to Genoa in Italy. Nicolo Schira first broke the news, saying that personal terms were already agreed, then came speculation from Italian media, and from Fabrizio Romano no less, that Amiri was to arrive in Italy today to complete his medical. The rapid speed of his rumoured departure has slowed somewhat as German media, with Bild saying that nothing has been agreed yet, though everything could be complete by Saturday. The 25-year-old is reportedly apprehensive of joining the Italian side due to their current relegation struggle and would prefer to be sent on loan with an obligation to buy if Genoa stay up. The fee would amount to 9 million euros - the same price that we paid Hoffenheim when he signed in summer 2019.

The transfer of Lucas Alario to Palmeiras has also gained momentum in the past 24 hours, albeit with very conflicting reports. Some claimed a transfer was through, some that the clubs had agreed but not the player, and others the opposite. We do at least now know that the deal relates to a loan with a purchase option. According to Kicker, Leverkusen are not satisfied with Palmeiras' offer as it should be below the €7m fee that Brazilian media are reporting. Bild claim a deal is 'very unlikely' as they should not be able to handle Bayer 04's financial demands. Whilst Palmeiras are showing the most interest, they should not be the only club from Sao Paulo looking to hire the Argentine as Sao Paolo have entered the fray tweets Ekrem Konur. Bild Could we see two players leave in the space of a few days? Who would we sign to replace them, if anyone? It is going to be an exciting week for sure!
