Patience required with Mudryk, La Liga clubs want Bravo. Transfer Update 21/07/2022

Arrivals

Kicker reports that long-term target Mykhaylo Mudryk is still not yet off the table. The magazine writes that it is 'not a normal' deal and that the offer put on the table by Leverkusen is at least equal to the one proposed by Brentford. Despite this, Shakhtar would continue to prefer to sell the 21-year-old to the Premier League. Why this is the case is not known. Simon Rolfes demands patience, saying it requires "a lot of time".

Sekou Mara was courted by the Werkself earlier in the summer, along with a series of other German clubs, but it appears that the 19-year-old Bordeaux striker has made his decision. His destination should be Southampton in the Premier League according to '20 minutes'. The transfer should amount to €11m and €2m in bonuses -given this price, we can perhaps be thankful he decided against us - that money could certainly be spent more effectively than on a new centre forward.

Departures

Former captain Charles Aranguiz is likely to see out the rest of his contract and not move this summer as stated in a Sky article. The 33-year-old had been long linked with a return to former club SC Internacional in Brazil. Back on the 7th of July, Simon Rolfes told Kicker that no club had made contact yet regarding the Chilean which raises the question of just how serious the Porto Alegre club's interest was in the first place, despite the associations between the player and club spanning multiple transfer windows.

AS claims that the majority of teams in La Liga are seeking to hire Iker Bravo. The 17-year-old, who is the second youngest debutant in Leverkusen's history, is particularly engrossing Atletico Madrid who are monitoring his situation 'intensely'. The Spanish paper suggests that the Spaniard, scorer of an impressive hattrick against MSV Duisburg, may be dissatisfied playing in 'only' the U19s and feel ready to make the leap into senior football already - which he could do at one of Spain's numerous B teams. Whether that actually is a step forward in his career is debatable; after all, Bravo has UEFA Youth League football to look forward to in addition to a place in the professional squad of a Champions League team. Marca even say that Bravo is 'very close' to joining Los Colcheneros on a two-season long loan with an option to buy. If that were to happen it would be shocking and a huge loss for the club as he is one of the few U19s with genuine perspective in the senior squad.
