New winger targeted and an update on Nketiah. Transfer Update 03/01/2022

Arrivals

Turkish journalist Ertan Suzgun tweeted today that Bayer Leverkusen have made an offer for the 1.86m winger Ola Solbakken from Bodo/Glimt. Other teams in the running are Sampdoria, Sassuolo and Galatasaray. Allegedly the player himself has asked to leave the Arctic club and Bodo/Glimt demand €5m to €6m for his services despite his contract running out in the end of December and his low market value of €2m. He is one of the breakout stars of the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League, impressively scoring 3 goals over two matches against the heavily fancied Roma. He appears to be physically robust and technically gifted and equally adept on either wing, an important quality to add to our team which has been heavily reliant on one side each game, usually the one which Diaby occupies. Do his good performances in Europe justify his price and is the direct leap from Norwegian to German football too big? Given his age (23) and the fact he has not yet played outside Norway, it would be quite a surprise if we actually took this risk.

A quick update on Eddie Nketiah's move now. Arsenal 'insider' @AFCfrom on Twitter claims that Leverkusen are the favourites to sign him and are negotiating solely with the forward, not Arsenal, ruling out a move in January.
