According to Kicker, Lennart Grill is an issue at Union Berlin. Since the signing of Lunev on a two year deal, it has become obvious that Grill must leave in order to obtain enough match practice. Logically it would make sense for Grill to be on loan for longer than one year - Lunev would be able to run through his contract as a more than capable No. 2 and Grill would be able to improve himself and return and perhaps even challenge for a No.1 spot with an ageing Hradecky, depending on the amount of game time he gets. Is Union Berlin the best place for Grill? With the UEFA Conference League they have room to rotate and Luthe isn't getting any younger - Union Berlin's Oliver Ruhnert, recently said, "We are looking for a goalkeeper who is able to play the Bundesliga and also compete for number 1." Could Grill be that goalkeeper? If his limited appearances in the Bundesliga are anything to go by, yes.
