Kvaratskhelia, Madueke, Bamba, Draxler, Hauge, Ebimbe, Ojo. All names of wingers who have been linked over the coming months to replace Bailey and Gray. Now, after weeks of silence, the media have finally revealed our new man - Amine Adli of Toulouse. A couple of months ago it was said that we were in agreement with the player, as were a large number of clubs such as AC Milan and Marseille. In more recent times, it was clear he was coming to the Bundesliga but the favourites were then Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich. In the end however, he chooses Leverkusen. According to Patrick Berger of Sport1, there is agreement between Toulouse and Bayer 04 and there is a transfer fee of €15m in the room (including add-ons). Adli himself is still negotiating the final details of a long-term contract to join the club. When he comes, our squad planning is surely complete in terms of incomings, with Seoane yesterday saying that he is satisfied with the current squad and any newcomers would only be in the attack. Excited for the announcement!
Departures
Joel Pohjanpalo was recently subject to interest from VFB Stuttgart but no longer as he did not fit the profile they were looking for. Now our rivals Cologne are said to be preparing an offer for the Finn. Bayer are not putting any barriers in the way of an exit, setting the asking price at less than one million euros. Despite this, despite Danger being a proven goalscorer at this level, Cologne continue to ask for him to go for free. With the arrival of Amine Adli, who is as much a centre forward as he is a winger, Pohjanpalo will surely leave this summer. With his contract expiring in 2022, we cannot let that be for nothing.
