Arrivals
According to reporter Sam Lee of The Athletic, Manchester City youngster Samuel Edozie is on the verge of joining Leverkusen. He has met with the club already, and is now training in Croatia with City’s U-23s while the two clubs negotiate a transfer fee. The 19 year-old left winger scored 5 goals and made 3 assists in 29 Premier League 2 appearances this past season. Another reason for the transfer's delay could be Man City looking to insert buy back and sell on clauses.
A tweet posted by Fabrice Hawkins reads that Sael Kumbedi is interesting Lyon, PSV and Bayer 04. The 17-year-old right back, who plays for Le Havre's U19s and the France U17 national team, is described by Football Talent Scout as a 'complete fullback' with 'high work rate, determination and winning mentality'. His contract expires in 2023.
On Saturday, Le10Sport exclusively reported that the competition to sign promising Sochaux winger Alan Virginius was down to the final 2 teams - Newcastle United and Bayer Leverkusen. Apparently Newcastle are prepared to make an offer between €5m and €10m but Bayer 04 are 'still in the game and ready to respond'. The French news site says it is unclear which team is closer to the France U19 international's signature.
Departures
Bayer Leverkusen star Moussa Diaby told RP Online, “I’ve made my decision and I’ll be playing for Bayer Leverkusen again next season.” The winger, who is valued at €65 million, had been approached by a host of clubs this Summer, including Newcastle United. This is really assuring news for all Leverkusen supporters, as the Frenchman could prove to be key in the club’s title push this season.
Journalist Ali Naci Küçük and the Hürriyet Newspaper have reported that central attacking midfielder Nadiem Amiri has received an offer from Galatasaray. The Turkish club would like to sign the 25 year-old on a loan deal with an option to buy. Amiri spent the second half of last season on loan at Italian side Genoa, where he was not able to find the back of the net and only made one assist. This deal would make a lot of sense as the German seems to have no future at the BayArena.
Paulinho been associated with a change for a long while, but now his future is clear - it will not be in Leverkusen. In an interview with O Globo, the Olympic gold medallist said "For me, my future is already decided. The club already knows that I don't want to stay for the next season. They are well informed, and we are finalizing the bureaucratic part regarding the contract in order to leave." According to Bruno Andrade, Leverkusen is seeking to recoup just €5m of the €18m paid to Vasco da Gama in 2018. Sky Sports however say that Paulinho's agents are actively working to terminate his contract with Bayer 04. He is not short of interested clubs from both his homeland and elsewhere in Europe, particularly from Serie A.
