Arrivals
Bayer Leverkusen, according to GE Globo, have held talks with Flamengo over a possible transfer of Brazilian midfielder Matheus Franca of their U20 side. Negotiations are said to have lasted around 3 weeks so far and a potential offer of €15m has been indicated. Whilst the variable player, who per a Football Talent Scout report, 'can play anywhere in midfield and on both wings', has only made 7 professional appearances to date, the Copa Libertadores runners up are looking to push his price up even further. The only other club seriously interested is Botofogo who should not be in the race due to Flamengo's reluctance to sell to its rivals - their owner however also possesses Crystal Palace in England and Olympique Lyon in France. Whilst he is very much an unknown quantity, he would of course be a typical Bayer 04 transfer - very young, under the radar with lots of potential.
Departures
The agents of Piero Hincapie were allegedly contacted by Napoli representatives this morning according to Calciomercato. The meeting should not have resulted in much, just an 'exploratory contact to test the ground' before the Italian club enters negotiations with Leverkusen. Whether or not the Neapolitans pursue Hincapie further depends on the future of their defensive ace Kalidou Koulibaly. Should he leave, they are said view the Ecuadorian, who has recently broke the record for Golden Boy votes, as the ideal replacement.
