Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe's loan move to Bayer Leverkusen for two years for a little while seemed as good as done. However, as Loic Tanzi of RMC Sport now reports, a disagreement in regard to the option to buy threatens to derail all of the progress made so far. Paris want €15m whereas Bayer 04 only want €9m. In addition to the option to buy, PSG also want to include a buyout clause which should be especially contentious. As a consequence, as Santi Aouna tweets, Paris have rejected the offer of Leverkusen and a deal now looks unlikely to happen. The Frenchman himself is now set against renewing his contract as well because of this. Should this deal fail, there will be just 3 days to find a replacement for Nadiem Amiri who is already in Italy. The pressure is now on to find an alternative or a rapid compromise with PSG.
Ireland U17 captain Cathal Heffernan was pictured yesterday in the kit of Bayer Leverkusen. The image of the 16-year-old centre back of Cork City was posted on Instagram by his management team 'Sire 7' with the caption 'soon'. This would suggest that he should be very close to joining the club but given that he has trained with the likes of AC Milan and Juventus over the past year, a transfer is far from being done. Especially given that, according the Irish Sun, he is now iu Italy for talks with AC Milan. Were Cathal to join, he would be the first Irish player in club history.
Departures
Nadiem Amiri has left to join Genoa. The player himself announced it, posting a picture of himself on a plane with the caption "Andiamoooo" and the Italian flag. Andiamo is Italian for 'here we go'. His loan is expected to last 6 months with an option to buy for €9m - whether or not that option is exercised is heavily dependent on Genoa's performance in Serie A - should they be relegated, it is likely he will return to Leverkusen in the summer. They currently sit 19th in the table, 5 points from safety.
Mitchel Bakker to Newcastle is off tweets Luke Edwards of the Telegraph. This comes just a day after it was rumoured the player's representatives were in Newcastle to discuss terms. The likely reason for this is the lack of time to find an adequate replacement, with just three days to go until the window shuts.
