An agreement between PSG and Bayer Leverkusen over the loan of Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe has already been reached according to RMC Sport. The likelihood of a deal happening is extremely high as only final details remain in the 21-year-old's two year contract extension with the Parisians. Were he to join, Bayer 04 would be made to pay all of his salary and at the end of the season, an option to buy worth €15m would be at play.
Sardar Azmoun has of course already signed for this summer but due to the controversial circumstances surrounding his departure, in addition to Zenit's own pursuit of a new centre forward, the Iranian could be made to leave St Petersburg early. Bayer Leverkusen are said to have proposed an offer of between €2m and €3m for the Russian league's Player of the Year, according to Sport 1, which could, if successful, begin a chain reaction, with Azmoun joining Leverkusen, Yuri Alberto joining Zenit from SC Internacional and Alario being forced to make an early decision on his future. Given the Argentine's willingness to leave, in addition to the club's lack of need for him, he may be allowed to leave for less than his €8m release clause. This may pique the interest of Palmeiras and Venezia who both have submitted concrete offers so far this January. Sport Bild claim it is 'probable' the Iranian Messi will play in black and red this February.
Now for something really shocking. L'Equipe claim that Bayer Leverkusen had 'tried its luck' to sign Tanguy Ndombele of Tottenham Hotspur! However despite our interest, the Frenchman is 'only interested in joining PSG'. This rejection can still work in our favour however as it could be the reason for the swift agreement for Dina Ebimbe - PSG have an excess of midfielders so would need to make room for Ndombele and this need would mean that they are more open to offers for their players. The transfer of the former Lyon star would have only consisted of a 6 month loan.
Departures
Panagiotis Retsos has officially left Leverkusen. The Greek centre back has signed with Hellas Verona on a contract lasting until summer 2023.
Newcastle United have still supposedly not given up on signing Mitchel Bakker according to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail. Provided that a replacement can be sorted, it is 'expected' that the transfer would go ahead for a fee of approximately £16m (€19m). This news comes just days after it emerged that a senior figure within Newcastle said the deal was off.
